Mission
The mission of the Lessick Empire is to provide aesthetic insight into, training in, and apprehension of, quotidian phenomena as contemporary art for the citizens and visitors to this world.

Helen Lessick is an artist and art administrator working to achieve the Mission and bring the art into public and private places.

Artist
Helen’s exhibition and commission record includes work in sculpture, installation and artists books. Her permanent public art projects are sited across the Pacific Northwest and southern California.  Her temporal public pieces include works with natural phenomena including fire, ice, living animals and insects in diverse public locations around the United States and in Europe. Helen’s artists books and public art book projects have taken the form of baseball cards, bookmarks, a treasure map, hair survey, and set of meat cleavers.  Her work are in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, Sackner Archive of Concrete & Conceptual Poetry, New York Public Library, Getty Research Institute, and public and private collections across the US and Europe. Helen’s exhibition record includes solo museum, academic and commercial gallery shows, and significant group artist in residence projects.

Art Consultant
Helen is an experienced arts consultant specilaizing in public art collections, project, and program management. She has worked on staff at the Los Angeles County Metro Art, King County Office of Arts and Culture, Washington State Arts Commission, Ventura Arts Commission, Armory Center for the Arts, and Portland Center for the Visual Arts. Helen has initiated and managed projects, programs, and analyses as a consultant to the Seattle Arts Commission, Socrates Sculpture Park in New York, United Indians of All Tribes in Washington, the City of Norfolk, VA and the University of Southern California Public Art Studies Program. A published writer on contemporary art, exhibitions and program practices, Helen also curates exhibitions for non-profit and academic institutions.
